HOW WE STARTED
"Driven by Determination: Two Boys, One Big Dream"
Author: Renee Keller
In a pivotal moment of his life, Prince Udemezue felt a deep desire for something more than the routine of a regular job. He knew it was time to take control of his destiny and create a future that truly mattered—a future driven by passion and purpose.
“Fear of failure doesn't brush my mind” Prince said.
Fueled by his vision, Prince Udemezue brought UDEM to life.
Pronounced as “(oo-dem),” UDEM’s initial hope was to create a brand designed to inspire athletes with dreams, aiming to one day stand alongside giants like Nike.
In the midst of Prince Udemezue’s journey, his brother, Godson Udemezue, was also grappling with a desire to find something more sustainable and meaningful in life. Determined to carve his own path, Godson ventured into dropshipping. Despite facing numerous setbacks and losses, he emerged with a wealth of knowledge that would later prove valuable in building their clothing brand.
Seeing the potential in their combined talents, they decided to work together to create something lasting—a legacy that could be passed down to future generations.
“I want this to be more than a brand,” Godson said, “ I want our brand to showcase how far we’ve come and our dedication to success”
A few months in they received their first bulk order, a family member voiced their doubt, saying, "You're getting scammed. I could’ve found this cheaper at a thrift store," while stressing the number of orders they would need to sell just to break even. “It was clear—they didn’t believe in us at all.”
This sparked fire within them, fueling determination to prove their critics wrong and face every challenge head-on.
It was in that moment they discovered the true meaning behind their brand. They decided UDEM would stand for "UnderEstimated"
They realized that UDEM's mission is to empower people to beat expectations, embrace their potential, and create their own paths to success.
“If you are wearing our clothes, you believe in this movement,” Godson said, “you support us, and we thank you.”
